Conditions requiring urgent psychiatric interventions may include suicidal thoughts with plan and intent, attempted suicide, homicidal thoughts active plan and intent, substance abuse relapse, worsening of depression and psychosis, violence or other rapid changes in behavior. Remain on the phone with the patient until help has arrived or patient has made it to the emergency room Have someone else in the office contact the patients emergency contact on file.
